Abstract
Endothelial viability was compared in paired cat corneas stored in refrigerated serum or in refrigerated moist chambers (according to standard eye-bank procedures) for 24, 48, 72, 96, and 120 hours. The endothelial cells remained viable longer (as assessed by trypan blue staining), and there were fewer ultrastructural changes (as assessed by scanning and transmission electron microscopy) in the eye-bank-stored corneas than in the serum-stored corneas. Keywords
