Abstract
CL4 is a radio source having variations of flux density remarkably similar to those of BL Lac, namely quasi-periodic with periods of about two months. The radio spectra are also very similar, increasing to about 3 GHz and flat at higher frequencies. Both sources are associated with stellar objects having non-thermal optical spectra. The absence of detectable λ 21 cm absorption in the spectrum of CL4 suggests that it lies within the Galaxy, and may well be associated with the Cygnus Loop. Recent evidence on BL Lac, however, indicates that this source is extragalactic, so it appears possible that ‘ BL Lactype ’ objects are of two kinds. Keywords
