Abstract
The nuclear magnetic moment μ, and the electrostatic quadrupole moment Q, were obtained from the spectra of Bi II, III, and IV. μ, derived from the one-electron hyperfine structures of Bi III, was 4.23(0.10) nuclear magnetons. μ, derived from hyperfine structures of sl configurations of Bi II and Bi IV, was 3.7(0.5) nm. Q, derived from sl configurations of Bi II, was −0.4(0.1) b; hyperfine structures of Bi IV yield values from 0.79 to −20 b. Three new "A" factors for Bi II are also presented. Keywords
