Abstract
The Kodak still video transceiver system is designed to electronically transmit and receive high quality color video images over standard telephone lines. A detailed description of the algorithm used in compressing the digital image data is provided. The algorithm is based on the discrete cosine transform (DCT) and uses human visual system (HVS) sensitivity models to achieve high compression ratios without visible artifacts.© (1989) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
