Chylous ascites following vagotomy

Abstract

Chylous ascites following vagotomy is of utmost rarity, the second instance in the world literature being herein described. It is probably due to injury to an anomalous lymph-duct at operation. Treatment should be conservative at first, but if ascitic fluid reaccumulates after repeated paracentesis the damaged vessel should be sought operatively.
