Diffuse Umklapp scattering in amorphous metals

Abstract
It is shown that the short-wavelength collective excitations recently detected in the metallic glass Mg0.7Zn0.3 using inelastic neutron scattering arise from a diffuse Umklapp scattering from transverse acoustic waves.Keywords
