Abstract
The study of the influence of textile geometry upon textile structure performance is extended to staple-fiber yarns. Methods previously developed for continuous-filament yarns [6] are applied to determine the theoretical dependency of staple-yarn tensile characteristics upon the stress dis tribution, and modifications thereof introduced by yarn twist, size, staple length, and inherent fiber properties. Both one-time loading to rupture and repeated-stress properties of acetate rayon and cotton yarns of various geometries are considered, and comparisons are made between experi mental and theoretical data. Keywords
