Abstract
In a Canadian family of British origin, a new hemoglobin variant, hemoglobin Manitoba, was observed. It was shown to differ from hemoglobin A by having a residue of arginine in place of serine in position 102 of the α-chain (helical notation G9). There was no evidence that this hemoglobin variant has any adverse clinical symptoms. Keywords
