Abstract
In gastrostomy dogs trained to lie still and studied by the balloon method of Carlson, an increase in activity and in tone of the stomach occurred soon after feeding. The activity belongs to the hunger mechanism, because it comes on immediately upon feeding and stops when chemical digestion is at its height. The ability of the stomach to respond thus to food is taken as a better criterion of "hunger" than is the shape of the tracing at any one time. Relationships between "salt curves," "insulin curves," and "food curves" are discussed. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
