Transmission Plans Impacted by Generation Siting a New Study Method

Abstract
A new method of studying the effect of generation siting alternatives on system transmission expansion costs is described. This automated procedure identifies transmission savings associated with dispersed generation. EPRI Synthetic Utility System D is used to illustrate the impact on the transmission expansion of alternate gas turbine expansions. The results include the year-by-year siting, the year-by- year transmission additions for 1984-1995 and transmission expansion costs measured in present worth dollars.
