Abstract
To the 9 cases of peripheral neuropathy accompanying multiple myelomatosis another is added. Little is known concerning the pathology and etiology of this condition, but it seems possible that in some cases at least the peripheral nerve lesion is due to accompanying primary amyloidosis, rather than to the myelomatous process itself, which never invades nervous tissue. The clinical picture is that of a neuropathy and it may antedate manifestations of multiple myelomatosis. To it are often added the features of amyloidosis. Treatment has been uniformly unsuccessful but it is possible that ACTH may be of value if primary amyloidosis is responsible for the neuropathy.
