Abstract
Significant advances with antiretroviral therapy (ART) have led to improved survival for patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.1-4 To achieve effective antiretroviral activity and clinical benefit, individual anti-HIV medications must be combined into an active treatment regimen.5-8 Optimal characteristics of combination regimens include durable activity, convenient scheduling, and tolerable adverse effects.9-11 Existing treatments are limited, suggesting that new medications are required to increase the activity of combination ART.12,13Keywords
