Abstract
Partially decapsulated (enzymatic) Cryptococcus neoformans, isolate 3723, cells were capable of inducing high-titer antiserums which were effective in protecting mice against a lethal challenge dose of encapsulated organisms during the immunization period. Active immunization of mice protected 30% of the animals for at least seven months. Complete decapsulation was accomplished only after prolonged exposure to enzyme. Cells treated in this manner were not antigenic. Keywords
