The Autocatalytic Growth-Curve

Abstract
The logistic equations proposed by Crozier, Pearl and Reed, and by Robertson for the expression of growth measurements were reduced to the hyperbolic tangent. The generality of this equation is shown and the fact is emphasized with an example that the mere fitting of data by a mathematical equation does not prove that nature of the data fitted is the same as that of the equation. The easily fitted hyperbolic tangent equation is useful for purposes of comparison and interpolation but alone it will not aid in the analysis of the chemical nature of the growth process.
