Abstract
With the aim of inhibiting the yellowing of wool by sunlight, organic substances representing a wide variety of different chemical types have been padded from solution onto wool fabric. After exposure under standardized conditions to a filtered xenon arc or to sunlight, the extent of yellowing of the treated fabrics has been compared visually and quantitatively by reflectance measurements. Of 270 substances tested so far, sixteen showed marginal inhibition of yellowing. Keywords
