Abstract
Comparison of the clinical and histological features of positive and negative skin test cases of allergic rhinitis and nasal polyposis showed only the following significant differences. The incidence of polyposis was 17.6% in the positive reactors and 31.6% in the negative reactors, and the proportion of patients in the negative group over 40 yrs. of age was higher than the positive group. Negative tests did not appear to be related to the duration of the condition nor to inability of the skin to fix antibodies. Treatment of negative reactors by desensitization and avoidance on the basis of the clinical history was as effective as in the positive reactors, and had a beneficial effect on the recurrence of the polypi. Keywords
