Abstract
FREE perforation of the common bile duct is rare.At the New York Hospital there have been no cases since the present building was opened in 1932. Cases were reported by Hart1 in 1951 and by Muendel and Null in 1954.2 The following case was complicated by massive gastric hemorrhage, which required additional surgery.Case ReportA 70-year-old woman was admitted to the New York Hospital for the 1st time with a chief complaint of severe pain in the upper abdomen of 15 hours' duration.Past history revealed gallstones for many years and an appendectomy in 1920.
