Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in Adults

Abstract
Although there has been some confusion about the persistence of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) into adulthood, several studies1-4 have shown the face validity of ADHD in adults. In fact, community studies5,6 suggest that the prevalence of ADHD in adults is between 4% and 5%. If we apply these rates to the US Census Bureau estimate of the number of adults living in the United States,7 as many as 9.4 million adults may have ADHD.
