Abstract
A 48 yr old man had a history of constipation and increasing abdominal distention for 6 wk. During X-ray examination, the patient''s condition deteriorated rapidly, cyanosis became profound, and he became unconscious. Laparatomy was performed through a midline incision and before mobilization of the large bowel could be accomplished intestinal gas had to be removed with an aspirating needle. The cyanosis then quickly disappeared and the patient''s general condition improved considerably. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
