Abstract
Many physicians today believe that they are not able to spend as much time with patients as they did in the past. They blame our confused health care system and are concerned about not having enough time to address the many needs of their patients. In this issue of the Journal, Mechanic et al. show that between 1989 and 1998 the length of office visits did not decline, as was widely assumed.1 In fact, it increased.
