Abstract
IN THE newborn infant there occur not too infrequently congenital anomalies that, left untreated, result in death. Prompt recognition and adequate surgical correction of the anomaly will result in a gratifying low mortality rate. There are usually no serious associated congenital anomalies so that with correction of the major difficulty the child becomes normal.
