Abstract
The need for mass storage in computer systems is becoming increasingly important with the growing trend toward interactive terminal-oriented systems storing all data on-line under systems control. The capacity required of mass-storage devices (disk, tape, and card), therefore, far exceeds the range for which electronic memory is economical.Keywords
