SELENATION AS A TOOL TO IDENTIFY THE COBALT(II)-SULPHUR VIBRATIONS

Abstract
The F.I.R. spectra of CoL2X2 complexes (X = Cl, Br, I and L = , where for R = H, R' = H, Me, Et and R = R' = Me, Et and Y = S, Se) have been investigated in order to locate the CoY vibrations by means of selenation. The mass effect of the halogens and selenium has enabled us to identify both vCoX and vCoY vibrations. The bending motions are strongly coupled.
