Acute Ammonia Intoxication Complicating Multiple Trauma

Abstract
Exposure to ammonia gas caused severe tissue damage to skin, lungs and eyes. Toxic effects, immediate and delayed, can alter the response to other injuries. A 14-yr-old boy who suffered multiple trauma in a vehicular accident and was exposed to anhydrous ammonia was reported. He exhibited severe pulmonary and ocular damage and other severe injuries, and despite aggressive treatment, died of respiratory failure.
