Abstract
Local space densities are given for quasars as a function of their optical and radio luminosities, radio galaxies, clusters of galaxies, Seyfert galaxies, giant elliptical galaxies, and field galaxies. The local space density of dead quasars is estimated. A substantial fraction of all galaxies may have a dead quasar as nucleus. Keywords
