Abstract
Distribution of larval cabbage loopers, Trichoplusia ni (Hübner), on cabbage and larval fall armyworms, Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) on com suggested larvae may be responding to light and gravity. Newly emerged looper larvae are more common on the lower leaf surface (Sutherland 1966, Greene 1968). Fall armyworm are predominantly found on the upper portions of the corn plant. These studies were conducted to determine the separate effects of light and gravity on larval movement and selection of feeding sites. Keywords
