As part of a revision of Permian faunas of the Tebaga massif in southernmost Tunisia, the principal sponges are described. Calcispongia, Demospongia, and Hyalospongia thrived in a very special environment. The species are related to faunas of Sicily, the United States, and the Far East. Many genera represented in the Tebaga fauna have not yet been recorded from beds older than Triassic or even Liassic. Two new genera are created, Polyedra and Tebagaspongia.
