Abstract
Squash and pumpkin growing in soil treated with lindane or benzene hexachloride at the dosage of 1-2 lbs./acre failed to develop serious borer infestations. Larval mortality occurred after light feeding on the plant stem tissues. Chlordane, parathion and dieldrin failed to give a similar response. Benzene hexachloride caused some off-flavor in the fruits.
