A Double-Blind Study of Disodium Cromoglycate for Prophylaxis of Bronchial Asthma1,2

Abstract
A double-blind crossover trial indicated that disodium cromoglycate is a useful drug in the therapy of asthma. Significant differences favoring the drug were found in 10 of 11 indices for the first crossover. Although the improvement shown in the subjective indices was greater, the improvement demonstrated by three pulmonary function tests was also significant. Comparison of results between treatment sequence groups and the decrease in differences between drug and placebo therapy in the latter part of the study indicate that the drug has a persistent effect. No evidence of drug toxicity was found.
