Abstract
The Stark-broadened line profile observed with Doppler-free two-photon polarization spectroscopy of the hydrogen resonance line in a plasma is investigated theoretically. With use of computer simulations for the numerical evaluation of line profiles, strong ion dynamical effects in the line core are found at moderate plasma densities.
