Delayed Death from Ingestion of a Toothpick

Abstract
To the Editor: We recently treated a 28-year-old victim of toothpick ingestion. We report the details of his case to reemphasize the need for adequate and immediate treatment in the event of such an ingestion.The patient presented to the emergency room at about 9 a.m., reporting 24 hours of fever, chills, and rectal bleeding, with pain in the right lower quadrant that radiated into his right buttock.
