Abstract
Rats were injected subcut. with a soln. of benzpyrene in olive oil, and the un changed benzpyrene eliminated in the urine and feces was separated from the fluorescent derivative of benzpyrene by chromatographic analysis. In order to determine the fraction of the injected hydrocarbon eliminated unchanged, 3 rats were injected with 2 ml. of a 1% soln. of benzpyrene in olive oil, and the urine and feces collected for 1 mo. By this time, most of the injected benzpyrene was elimi nated. The amt. of unchanged benzpyrene in extracts of urine and feces was estimated by fluorescence spectrum analysis. Approx., 1% of the injected benzpyrene was eliminated in the feces, while only a trace was eliminated in the urine. Evidence was obtained of the qualitative elimination of benzpyrene in an unchanged form, in fowl bile after intraven. inj., and in fowl excreta after subcut. inj. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
