Abstract
Experiments investigating the influence of diffraction on the thermal lens effects of wind are reported. The results show that the distorted beam peak intensity depends critically on the size of the Fresnel number involved. Numerical results accounting for diffraction effects have also been obtained which confirm the experimental observations. Keywords
