Abstract
The fluoride content of 66 water samples from Fars Province (Iran) is determined using a thorium nitrate titrimetric method at pH = 4.5. The level of fluoride varied from 0.1 to 3.6 ppm with an average of 0.67 ppm. The high content in the waters from some areas (located close to the sea) corresponds to the reported high incidence of mottled teeth among the inhabitants. In view of the harsh climatic conditions in the province, defluoridation of water supplies in some parts is recommended. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
