Random Distribution of Schistosome Eggs in the Feces of Patients with Schistosomiasis Mansoni

Abstract
Counts of schistosome eggs in successive 10-ml samples of single stool specimens from 11 patients with schistosomiasis mansoni were determined by the filtration-staining technique and analyzed by the index of dispersion. Eggs were randomly distributed in eight of the stools. In the remaining three, the statistically significant dispersion found was not of clinical importance.
