Abstract
This is the Report of a Committee charged by Dr. John Marburger, Director of Brookhaven National Laboratory, to review potentially catastrophic processes that might be initiated by heavy ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Our conclusion is that the candidate mechanisms for catastrophe scenarios at RHIC are firmly excluded by existing empirical evidence, compelling theoretical arguments, or both.
