Abstract
The extreme ultraviolet is traced from Schumann’s beginning to the present day. Developments and progress since 1941 are discussed in detail. Progress in the spectroscopy of the sun and the stars from rockets and satellites, in high-temperature plasma spectroscopy and in techniques is also discussed, and attention is called to the close interrelations between these fields. Keywords
