Abstract
IN a recent Journal report, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health described some aspects of kidney transplantation in Massachusetts.1 As we pass the 20th anniversary of the first human-kidney transplantation of the modern era,2 and the 10th anniversary of the first successful use of azathioprine for human-kidney transplantation (April 5, 1962),3 an expanded regional survey seems appropriate.Currently, eight hospitals in Boston are active in kidney transplant surgery, performing over 170 transplants during 1971 and over 635 during the past decade.These numbers may be considered in the light of the world experience, which is of remarkable extent considering the . . .Keywords
