Rectal dose and Rectal Damage in the Intracavitary Treatment of Uterine Cancer

Abstract
Description is presented of a method of measuring dose rate on the anterior rectal wall of patients undergoing intracavitary treatment for uterine cancer. A scintillation probe is employed with a sodium iodide crystal and suitable instrumentation, allowing the direct reading of the gamma dose rate. No positive correlation between high dose and rectal reaction could be observed in measurements on a material of 169 cases.
