Abstract
During May and June 1969, adult and larval mosquito populations were compared in an unmodified area and in a newly irrigated area in Nyanza Province, Kenya. The numbers taken on human bait in 14 night catches in the two localities were 22,966 and 23,641 respectively. In a village in the unmodified area, Mansonia uniformis constituted 86% of the catch while in a village adjacent to the new ricefields Anopheles gambiae made up 65% of the catch and Culex fatigans 5%.Keywords
