Abstract
Icons are used increasingly in interfaces because they arecompact "universal" pictographic representations ofcomputer functionality and processing. Animated icons canbring to life symbols representing complete applications orfunctions within an application, thereby clarifying theirmeaning, demonstrating their capabilities, and evenexplaining their method of use.
