Hybrid multi-mode/single-mode waveguides for low loss

Abstract
We have demonstrated a technique for achieving low loss in silicon waveguides by using wide sections in the straight paths with narrow sections in the turns. The overall loss achieved was approximately 0.3 dB/cm.Keywords
