Organometallic intermediates. Part III. The reactions of cyclopropenones with iron and cobalt carbonyls

Abstract
The reactions of cyclopropenones with iron and cobalt carbonyls have been examined as an alternative route to possible intermediates in the carbonylation reactions of acetylenes. Reactions with iron carbonyls result in the formation of tetracarbonylferracyclopent-3-en-2,5-dione derivatives, together with complexes apparently formed from the acetylenes produced by catalytic decarbonylation. Cyclopropenones behave as Lewis bases in their initial reactions with dicobalt octacarbonyl.
