Abstract
The Osler node of subacute bacterial endocarditis is associated with a characteristic clinical picture and also with a unique histopathologic inflammation of the glomus body. Cutaneous biopsies of Osler's nodes from two patients with bacterial endocarditis revealed necrotizing vasculitis of the dermal glomus with sparing of the remaining dermal vessels. No bacteria were found by staining of the tissue. An unclassified chromogenic mycobacterium was isolated from four blood cultures of one of the patients; this has not been previously reported. Keywords
