Abstract
This is the third and conclusive part of a three‐paper series and describes the application of a numerical model for saturated‐unsaturated flow in deformable porous media. In all, 10 illustrative examples are presented not only to demonstrate the validity of the method but also to highlight the fundamental unity that exists in the sic principles of the fields of hydrogeology, soil mechanics, and soil physics. The chosen examples involve such diverse phenomena as soil consolidation, infiltration, and drainage and generation of fluid pressures due to cyclic loading such as earthquakes. Keywords
