Abstract
Refractive index data for three quaternary liquid mixtures have been analysed after extending the mixing rules for index of refraction available in literature. Relative merits and interrelations of various important mixing rules for these quaternary liquid mixtures have been discussed in detail. Surprisingly the extended equations yield fairly good agreement between theoretical and experimental values of refractive indices. Keywords
