Abstract
Masai on a traditional diet showed significantly lower plasma and leukocyte ascorbate levels than a comparable nonpastoral group of Bantu living on a mixed diet in the same area. Masai had lower red cell folate levels, and higher serum B12 and total protein levels. Neither scurvy nor anemia was present. Keywords
