Abstract
The yarn path is shown to be dominated by disc geometry and spacing rather than forces, Expressions are derived from which the angle of wrap and the angle of attack can be calculated for any profile and disc setting. Experimental verification is provided for the dependence of the angle of attack on centre-spacing. The significance of the results is discussed, with particular reference to the reported claims of manufacturers and others. Keywords
