Abstract
Measurements of lattice constants and ac susceptibility have been performed on YBa2Cu3O6.91H x and GdBa2Cu3O6.89H x with xa increases with increasing x, whereas the parameters b and c decrease slightly with x up to x=0.8. An orthorhombic to tetragonal transition occurs at x=0.80 for both the hydrides, after which the parameter c becomes almost constant for x up to x=1.8 in spite of the increase of the parameter a with x. The superconducting transition temperature T c remains unchanged with x in the Y hydride system, while T c decreases slightly with x up to x=1.0 in the Gd hydride system. The diamagnetic signal is weakened by hydrogenation for both hydrides. Keywords
