Abstract
Dynamic strain-ageing in disordered CuAu was investigated by studying the kinetics of strain-ageing under stress during the stress relaxation that occurs when a compression test is interrupted. The test procedure was devised in such a way that the influence on strain ageing, of ageing time (i.e. time of relaxation), strain at relaxation, and test temperature could be evaluated with two of these variables fixed and varying the other. Results obtained indicate that strain-ageing in disordered CuAu is due to the formation of an ordered region or Schoeck atmosphere around dislocations. Calculations of the interaction energy for Schoeck ordering in CuAu presented in the Appendix also support this suggestion. Keywords
